Partnership Brings Sanctioned Event to Atlantic City as Part of Official 2018 WLDA Schedule
ORLANDO, Fla. (January 11, 2018) – The World Long Drive Association (WLDA) announced a new partnership with the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) to host an officially sanctioned WLDA event in Atlantic City in 2018. The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bash will take place on Monday-Tuesday, June 4-5, with the televised portion airing in primetime that Tuesday evening on Golf Channel.
The event will feature a 32-man field competing in the Open Division based on World Long Drive rankings, along with a Women’s Division field of 16 competitors. Qualifying rounds will narrow the field to eight men and four women advancing to take part in the televised portion of the competition on Golf Channel.
“Atlantic City has a storied history in golf, and bringing an exciting WLDA event that will air on Golf Channel this summer is a hole-in-one for the entire region,” said CRDA Executive Director Chris Howard. “The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bash will showcase Atlantic City as a premier destination and will drive home that our boardwalks, beaches, restaurants and entertainment are world-class.”
“The addition of this new event will act as a wonderful backdrop for the World Long Drive Association to showcase the distinct traits Atlantic City has to offer,” said Phil Piazza, Golf Channel senior vice president of programming. “The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bash will provide an exciting new opportunity for viewers to engage with some of the sport’s most dynamic athletes and personalities along Atlantic City’s vibrant Atlantic coast.”

The only agency of its kind nationwide, the CRDA has used Atlantic City casino reinvestments as a catalyst for meaningful, positive improvement in the lives of New Jersey residents since 1984. Under the 2011 Tourism District Act, the Authority’s mission evolved from statewide projects to becoming the state’s key economic development agency for Atlantic City. CRDA’s expanded responsibilities now include land use regulation, tourism marketing and clean and safe initiatives. The CRDA also oversees Historic Boardwalk Hall (the leading entertainment venue of its size in the country) and the Atlantic City Convention Center. In total, CRDA has invested nearly $2 billion in more than 400 projects statewide, of which $1.8 billion has been invested in Atlantic City, spurring business investments and expansions, and creating permanent jobs in the process.
